Making Fraser Valley lives better in 2015
Let's take a quick inventory of the year.
The hottest market we've seen in years? Check. Transitioning to a brand-new MLS® system, during the hottest market we've seen in years? Double-check.
On top of that, we held a successful Conference & Trade Show, four Member breakfast meetings that brought some big ideas to the table, and an AGM that saw important changes made to how our Board runs.
This has been, undoubtedly, a "big one" for the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board. And yet, our members still found opportunities and immense enthusiasm to look outward.
Giving back to Fraser Valley communities has always been a priority for our organization and members, and this year was no different.
Through the delivery of warmth, food, and comfort, our charitable efforts for 2015 made an impact on thousands of individuals and families across our region.
The 21st annual REALTORS Care® Blanket Drive collected over one thousand bags of blankets and warm clothing for people in-need in our communities. Thanks to our incredible REALTOR® volunteers, offices that generously donated space for collection, and members who gave what they could, we helped an estimated 5,000 working poor and homeless individuals between Mission and North Delta stay warm this winter.
The Board is also incredibly pleased to announce that we'll once again be able to contribute $20,000 to food banks across the Fraser Valley.
This money will be distributed throughout our individual communities; as in previous years, the donation is divided proportionately based on the number of Realtors represented in each community. The official donation will take place in the coming weeks, so look for more coverage in an upcoming NewsReal.
Last, but certainly not least, the Board donated to a special project at the Langley Lodge Healthcare Home. The Lodge is a six-storey residential care facility that provides an alternative for people to call home when their healthcare needs require ongoing attention.
With our $3,500 contribution, the organization will create a wall art installation specifically to benefit people suffering from various forms of dementia, including Alzheimer's. Wall art is known to offer a sense of calm to individuals with mental illness, and will provide many residents at Langley Lodge with comfort and support.
Once again, more information on this project will be available in a later NewsReal, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled!
Your efforts, contributions, and continued enthusiasm towards giving back to our neighbours throughout the Fraser Valley is inspiring and exceptional. From all of us at the Board, thank you for making us proud to be a part of the community!
