John Armeneau Professional of the Year Award

The John Armeneau Professional of the year Award recognizes outstanding commitment by a Fraser Valley REALTOR. Its namesake, the late John Armeneau, was a veteran of the Fraser Valley real estate community who embodied the true spirit of what it meant to be a REALTOR® by going above and beyond to mentor colleagues and contribute deeply to both the profession and the community. Each year we proudly continue this tradition of recognizing those who follow his example with superlative passion, dedication and leadership.

2025 John Armeneau Professional of the year: Karen Conyers

The Fraser Valley real estate community is built on a foundation of leadership, professionalism, and service. Few embody these qualities as profoundly as Karen Conyers, of Sotheby’s International Realty Canada.

Her outstanding contributions have earned her the well-deserved esteemed John Armeneau Award.

Karen has been a member of the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board since 2008 and has worked tirelessly to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in real estate. She served five years as a Director on the Board and had an impactful tenure as Chair of the Professional Standards Committee. She and was known to have many late nights reading binders full of information to prepare for Board and Committee meetings.

Karen’s dedication extends far beyond the Board and organized real estate. Karen is a founding member of the Kindred Farm-Sanctuary, a refuge for rescued animals that also offers solace and support to at-risk children and adults struggling with PTSD and mental illness. Her love for animals is profound —she is known to, when in the car, apologize out lout when she sees an animal that has been hit by a car. When she’s cooking, there is always a bite for her dog Ruby and cat Misty before there is one for her husband!

Karen has spent countless hours volunteering with the REALTORS Care® Blanket Drive, where she served not only as a dedicated volunteer, but as Chair, ensuring vulnerable individuals in our community receive the warmth and support they need.

And her work continues today as Chair of the granting committee for the Fraser Valley REALTORS® Charitable Foundation, where she plays a pivotal role in directing essential resources to programs that uplift the lives of at-risk and vulnerable youth in the region. Through many phone calls and countless personal time, she has helped to create a strong granting committee.

Her advocacy for ethics and professionalism in organized real estate, and boundless generosity in serving the community, make her the ideal recipient of the John Armeneau award.

When presented with the award Karen said, “The competition is mighty and great, and I am so honoured and so surprised.”
