Towards a Sustainable Housing Future

The Fraser Valley Real Estate Board engages directly with municipal, provincial, and federal decision-makers to advocate for responsible housing policy, improved supply, and affordability.

REALTORS® work at the front lines of housing. They hear the stories behind every data point—families struggling to find suitable homes, seniors downsizing, newcomers trying to start fresh, and young people priced out of the communities they grew up in. They see approvals that take months, supply that fails to meet demand, and buyers forced to make difficult compromises. These lived experiences give REALTORS® a unique perspective: what policies look like in real life, not only on paper.

Reports, Statements & Submission

Guided by evidence, industry expertise, and lived experience from more than 5,000 REALTORS®, we provide insight into how policy decisions impact residents, businesses, and the communities they call home.

Building Faster, Smarter

FVREB’s latest report, Building Faster, Smarter: Unlocking British Columbia’s Prefabricated Housing Potential, explores how offsite construction can help address the housing shortage by delivering homes more quickly, sustainably, and affordably. The report offers practical policy recommendations that call on governments, industry, and communities to work together to expand prefabricated housing options across BC, including:

  • Harmonizing municipal zoning to make prefabricated housing easier to replicate across the province
  • Creating a provincial procurement roadmap to provide predictable, long-term demand
  • Supporting First Nations leadership in modular housing initiatives
  • Expanding workforce training programs to strengthen skills in modular and offsite construction
